Classes in CNC, Machining, Electronics, Fabrication, Laser Cutting, Water Jet, 3D Printing, Welding and more!
Training begins with membership and a series of classes at TechShop Pittsburgh — a makerspace that offers rapid-training classes and professional-grade equipment, including tools, machinery, and software in a collaborative workspace. TechShop classes are quick (2-4 hours) and only meet once.
MAKERSHiP participants also have access to in-depth training with our partner organizations, including modified training with labor unions. MAKERSHiP training can be completed in several weeks, but can take longer depending upon the individual.
Our goal is job placement with start-up companies and mature manufacturers. We believe that hands-on work experience and on-the-job training lead to better employment outcomes.
Build Experience – Projects and On-the-Job Training
There is no substitute for experience! MAKERSHiP participants can design a project or participate in a group project to develop skills and showcase their abilities.
The MAKERSHiP can place participants with employers for on-the-job training. This allows MAKERSHiP participants to apply their skills to real world manufacturing work. Participants also make valuable industry connections and build their resume.
Trained and experienced MAKERSHiP participants work with the MakerChief to explore placement options. We have relationships with startup and mature manufacturing companies who need people for short-term, long-term, and permanent assignments.
