Volunteers were needed to assemble 2,400 small cardboard boxes as part of a display for Yom HaShoah, or Holocaust Remembrance Day. These type of boxes are used by banks to transport pennies – 2,500 pennies or 50 rolls per box. The boxes in the display hold a total of 6,000,000 pennies representing the number of Jewish lives lost in the Holocaust.

Read the Holocaust Remembrance Day exhibit guide and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s article on the exhibit.
