The MAKERSHiP™ team attended the United Steelworkers Local #8183 Resource Fair on October 21st at Center Stage in Monaca PA. We spent the day talking to workers about the MAKERSHiP™ Project and how it can help them transition their career.
As manufacturing becomes more technical the need for training in advanced manufacturing techniques becomes more urgent. Instead of spending a year or more in school and sitting in a classroom the MAKERSHiP™ is quick, hands-on, self-directed training. MAKERSHiP™ participants have access to a makerspace (TechShop Pittsburgh) where they can learn and collaborate with others on projects and take classes. TechShop is open from 9am until midnight every day and classes take place in the evenings and on the weekend. The flexibility of this program and the fact that it includes job placement makes it a really attractive option.
We look forward to following up with the people we met at the fair and getting them on board. See you at the next Resource Fair on November 4th!by
